Samantha and Carlton had a Smoky Mountain destination wedding at Music Road Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The bride and groom are both Black Hawk helicopter pilots, and they chose to marry on 9-11 in honor of love and country. Their wedding was not a full military wedding, it was an intimate setting with close family and friends, however, they did incorporate several military elements such as Carlton in his full military ensemble, including his sword, which was also used to cut the cake. Their reception space included an American flag and a model helicopter as well as a POW/MIA table. The POW table has a place setting for one in honor of brothers and sisters who could not celebrate with the couple. The setting includes a white table cloth, a single rose with a red ribbon tied around the vase, a candle lit by the bride and groom, and a slice of lemon and salt on the bread plate. Each of these items is symbolic in remembrance of these missed brothers and sisters. Read more about POW tables.
Samantha and Carlton also had created their own wedding ceremony traditions including a rose exchange and a wine ceremony in which they placed a bottle of wine and two letters into a locked box. On their first anniversary, they will drink the wine and read the letters. They will also place a new bottle of wine and new letters into the box for their next anniversary. We love this tradition!
Samantha chose a blue and white theme, and we thought her ribbon-style bouquet was gorgeous! A great team of wedding pros including Reverend Thomas Orange of Sevier County Weddings, Air Force 1 Mobile DJ, and Cakes by Bakin’ Bishop helped make Samantha and Carlton’s wedding a day to remember.
Samantha and Carlton: We could not have asked for a more special and unique wedding to be a part of. We had so much fun getting to know you and loved getting to take your wedding day photos. We hope they are always a reminder of your special day.
