Katheryne and Ramsey have a classic retro style that was perfectly woven into their Mabry-Hazen House wedding in Knoxville. With a love for Tennessee, history and Americana, they embraced these themes into their July wedding day.
Katheryne chose a red, white and blue color palette, which was beautifully captured in the floral arrangements by Lisa Foster Floral Design. The bridesmaids wore blue dresses perfect for a hot summer day, and we loved their mismatched red shoes.
The couple used several family heirlooms including a Bible that is several hundred years old, Katheryne’s family wedding jewelry, and a locket within her bouquet as a memorial to her stepsister.
The day was flawlessly coordinated by Angie Froemel with Absolute Wedding Perfection, and then Patrick Michael Weddings kept the dance floor packed during the reception! Katheryne and Ramsey’s reception was an absolute tribute to Tennessee including barbecue, sweet tea, Tennessee and UT themed cornhole boards, Tennessee flags, and a kegerator. Their “guest book” was actually a Tennessee-shaped wood sign, and guests were given an RC Cola and a Moon Pie as a thank you for celebrating in Katheryne and Ramsey’s day.
Their wedding story, which was more of a wedding weekend than a wedding day, would not be complete without mentioning the excitement of having Ramsey’s brother stand next to him as best man. His brother was working in Korea over the summer, and the anticipation of his arrival Friday night during the rehearsal dinner at Barley’s in the Old City was buzzing through the room. Not to mention, the back of Katheryne’s rehearsal dress was stunning.
Their story also would not be complete without mentioning a few favorite moments. First, when Katheryne and Ramsey cut their red, white and blue berry-topped cake, Ramsey smashed Katheryne in the face. And then he proceeded to eat some cake while she cleaned up. Later, during the reception we discovered Katheryne and her friends have incredible hula-hooping skills. When we asked Katheryne where they learned to do that, she said by watching You-Tube videos. Who’s ready to hula hoop?
To Katheryne and Ramsey: From the time we scheduled our first meeting with you, we knew you would be a fun, unique couple. Your wedding did not disappoint, and we are so thankful we got to be your wedding photographers. We look forward to working with more couples just like you!
