Knoxville Wedding Photographer – 2 Hodges Photography
Melissa and Frank, who live near Chattanooga, TN, wanted to get married in the mountains of north Georgia at Forrest Hills Resort in Dahlonega, GA. Their romantic, intimate destination wedding with a classic, vintage and boho style, had its fair share of memorable moments! Being a destination wedding, the wedding party all stayed in the same lodge. Kandi was actually one of Melissa’s bridesmaids while Steve was photographer, so we got to see first-hand how incredible the suites were. The entire resort was beautiful! We loved getting to be their photographers and bridesmaid!
As second marriages for both Melissa and Frank, they incorporated their six children into the wedding party. While Melissa was in a classic lace dress from David’s Bridal, the groom and groomsmen were in vintage gray jacketless suits with bow ties. Real bow ties. When we met up with the groomsmen for their pre-ceremony photos, we discovered none of them were ready. Thanks to YouTube and some persistence, a few of the groomsmen are now great at tying bow ties!
The day threatened rain, and as soon as it was time to take bridal portraits, we had to wait out a quick shower. Then, pure sunshine just in time to take photos of Melissa with her bridesmaids who were in mismatched bridesmaids dresses in varying shades of pink. And Melissa’s floral wreath by Laurens Norton was just beautiful!
For the ceremony, Melissa arrived in a horse-drawn carriage. There ceremony was just under way when thunder rumbled loudly through the sky. Their ceremony was then moved under the gazebo and went off without any further interruptions.
And thanks to the following downpour, we were able to get photos of Melissa and Frank in the rain – something they had actually hoped for!
Since we weren’t able to use bubbles as the couple exited their ceremony, we improvised and blew bubbles on them as the reception came to a close and they danced to “The Time of My Life,” reminiscent of the final dance to the movie Dirty Dancing.
Really, the wedding could not have been more beautiful or perfect. Melissa is a stunning bride, and we are so excited to share their photos.
To Melissa and Frank: There’s no way to say in a few words what you mean to us. We are so excited for you and your marriage. Thank you for letting us be such a special part of it all!
