Knoxville Wedding Photographer – 2 Hodges Photography
When Christie first contacted us for her Butterfly Gap Wedding Photography, she said she wanted her Knoxville wedding photographer to capture the emotions of her day. Photojournalistic wedding photography is one of our specialties, and as it turns out, from lots of laughter to happy tears, there were plenty of emotions to capture. Inviting family and close friends from all across the United States, Christie and Jimmy’s October wedding in Maryville, TN, was intimate and full of non-traditional elements that fit who they are as a couple. And they are a beautiful couple.
The day started at Cove Mountain Resorts in Sevierville, TN, with Christie having her hair and make-up completed by the talented ladies at Bangs and Blush. The wedding party then headed to Butterfly Gap Retreat where we got spend some time with Jimmy and Christie’s brothers, one who had the honor of giving Christie away and the other who had the honor of standing beside Christie as Bride’s Best Man. Then we met back up with Christie so that she could get into her dress. Talk about moments of laughter and tears from everyone (yes, Kandi included)! And this was before Christie’s grandmother, who was a very special guest at this Butterfly Gap wedding, helped Christie with her veil.
Christie and Jimmy decided to have a First Look so that they could complete most of their wedding photography before the wedding ceremony. They invited Jimmy’s daughter, who stood by Jimmy as Maid of Honor in the wedding, and it was definitely a sweet, touching, at times fun, moment for the bride and groom. Thankfully, Christie had on gorgeous turquoise Tom’s as her wedding day shoes, perfect for walking the trails around Butterfly Gap Retreat and posing for family photos.
One of our favorite aspects of Christie and Jimmy’s wedding was all of the incredible details they incorporated. Chrsitie’s bouquet, beautiful white calla lilies, and her flowers were designed by Sassafras Flowers. Walking into the Butterfly Gap wedding venue, they had signs to tell guests to pick a seat, not a side. On the seats were origami fortune tellers for the guests with Christie and Jimmy’s wedding details and fortune options that really fit who Christie and Jimmy are as a couple. At their reception, they had a popcorn bar, food catered by their favorite local restaurant, Parton’s Smokin’ Butz BBQ (which was incredible!) and cupcakes by KupKatie’s KupKakes. Then, for the sendoff, they used little flags that say “Hooray!” and “Yay!” That was the first time we had photographed a flag send off, and we thought it was perfect.
Their wedding story would not be complete without mentioning one of the sweetest reception moments we have ever witnessed. To include Christie’s grandmother into the dancing, a chair was placed in the middle of the dance floor so she could sit while the entire room of guests danced around her in a circle.
Telling Christie and Jimmy goodbye so that they could escape to their Dominican Republic honeymoon wasn’t easy. From the moment we all met, we kept finding more and more things we have in common with them as a couple. Without a doubt we plan to spend more time with them through their marriage.
Christie and Jimmy, we could not be happier for you in your marriage. We wish you many, many years of laughter and happy tears.
