Knoxville Wedding Photographer
We are Steve and Kandi, and we are the husband and wife Knoxville wedding photographers 2 Hodges Photography. This year we celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, and we could not be more excited!
How We Met
We first met in our church parking lot, talking for nearly an hour. To keep the conversation going, Steve wasn’t quite ready to commit to dinner yet. So, he invited Kandi to accompany him to buy dog food. As crazy as that sounds, she said yes.
Thankfully, we had dinner at Outback (still our favorite restaurant) after we left the pet food store. About a week later, Steve cooked dinner for Kandi for the first time. Soon after, Kandi knew she didn’t want to eat anyone else’s food.
How He Proposed
Steve proposed after we went to our first Smokies baseball game together on dollar hot dog night. We were watching the sunset at home after the game (the view from our property is so beautiful!), and Steve started talking about how we like to enjoy the simple things in life. Then he said that when his parents had recently introduced Kandi as his friend, he wished they had introduced her as his wife. She laughed and said, “Well, we would need to be married for them to do that!” And then Steve got on his knee and asked her to be his wife. She said yes.
About Our Marriage
We had a three-month engagement leading to our romantic fall country wedding on the 2 Hodges Photography property in Sevierville, TN. We actually got married on our one-year anniversary. We have now been married for 10 years, and we love marriage more every day. Our favorite things to do are laugh, snowboard, spend time with our two children and families, and work with couples for their Knoxville wedding photography. While we do not have a song, we do have a Bible verse that has followed us through our relationship – Jeremiah 29:11. Ten years later, Steve still loves to cook, and Kandi still loves eating Steve’s food.
How We Fell in Love with Knoxville Wedding Photography
Our couples often ask how we started shooting weddings together, and the answer always makes them laugh. We both have always been inspired by photography. Kandi started shooting corporate photos as the lead photographer for the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine. And because Steve also had a passion for photography, he was learning with her. At the time, several years ago, we only had one camera. And we started arguing over who would use it.
We then started investing in more cameras and equipment, and our photography business was born. We had the honor of second shooting a wedding with top Knoxville wedding photographer JoPhoto, and we knew we had found our niche. Weddings are our passion because we enjoy working with couples, seeing them in love, and capturing the joy among them, their families and their friends on the wedding day. We also enjoy how wedding photography incorporates several styles of photography from traditional portraits to photojournalism to macro photography to still-life. We like to keep things fun and relaxed for our brides and grooms while using our expertise in photography to deliver incredible photos that our couples will treasure for a lifetime.
Our Wedding Photography Style
Our photography style provides a natural, colorful, timeless feel. We like to capture classic images that you will enjoy seeing for a lifetime so that you can remember all of the emotions and details of your wedding day. We incorporate beautiful color and light, and we strive for the finished product to have a crisp, clean, natural feel that looks similar to what we saw while shooting. While this is our main style, we are not afraid to add a little drama, contrast, or creativity to our images to make them interesting. Even though we love colorful images, we do think black and white photos that capture an emotion or moment are beautiful, too, and we will provide these images in both color and black and white.
